Burton Dr. Closed Forever?

Do You Want Burton Dr. Closed Forever?

On Monday, October 3rd, 2022 at 5:15 PM, the Hall County Planning Commission will hear from the applicant, CBD Investments, LLC, and citizens regarding the proposed Inland 365 Business Center.  While the proposal intends to bring industial business the immediate area, the plan intends to permanently close Burton Dr. to allow for access to two industrial building lots.  The applicant’s plans are to create a cul-de-sac at two locations on Burton Dr., but the major thoroughfare currently utilized by City of Lula residents and residents of the region would no longer be able to travel this route.  Instead, the applicant intends all residents to use alternate routes such as Athens St./365 which currently does not have a traffic signal or travel to Old Cornelia Hwy./Hwy. 52 then travel toward 365.  This proposal does not consider traffic on Athens st. at the former Moss Farm where the developer was approved to build up to 480 homes.  There is no gurantee that GDOT would ever approve a traffic signal at Athens St./365 as this would further impede the flow of traffic up 365, which is a condition that GDOT has dealt with before regarding Hwy. 316 leaving Lawrenceville, GA that required the construction of overpasses to alleviate traffic congestion.
